Thy Kingdom Come!
Dear Women's Section,
You are invited to join the youth and families for any event on Good Friday depending on your schedule! We appreciate all the help with food and other necessary items you've given us in the past, and we'd like to find ways for our women's section to participate more fully in the Holy Week spiritual experience. Holy Week Missions is truly a highlight of the year for Regnum Christi.
Here are some Good Friday options:
1. Join us at Saint Peter in Chains Cathedral downtown at 9 AM on Good Friday to begin our crosswalk* at 10:20. This is a 2 mile walk that ends at Holy Cross of the Immaculata in Mount Adams.
2. Meet us at the top of Mount Adams at Holy Cross of the Immaculata Church for 12:45 Rosary. Allow ample time for parking.
3. Join us for the Good Friday service at Holy Cross of the Immaculata at 2 PM.
4. Join us for Stations of the Cross at Saint Peter in Chains Cathedral downtown at 5:15 PM. Stay afterward for Associations (Incorporations) to Regnum Christi at 5:45. We'd also love to see you for dinner at 6 PM in the basement of SPIC, followed by a sharing session about our crosswalk experiences that day.
5. Can't join us in person? Join your own parish activities in solidarity, or organize a holy hour in an "easier" location during the times of our services.
6. Collaborate with us about other ideas you might have! For instance, someone had an idea to collect prayer intentions at her parish and send them to us on Good Friday. *(During our crosswalk on Good Friday we collect prayer intentions from people and pray with them on the streets. We nail the intentions to the large wooden crosses that the men and boys carry.) Another great idea is to go door-to-door and invite people near your parish or another parish to the Easter Masses while asking them for prayer intentions. (You might be surprised at how receptive people are to a heartfelt invitation.)
If you decide to do any of this, you can send us your prayer intentions and we will nail them to the large wooden crosses with our other intentions. We can send a picture to our section.
Holy Saturday:
On Saturday we invite women volunteers to join us in cleaning for elderly and disabled residents at a low-income HUD apartment building in Dayton KY. Last year it was so special. The residents enjoyed our company and appreciated our help so much! And we felt that we received more than we gave.
Pre-Holy Week ideas:
- Donate. We want the women's section to know how much we appreciate your help with food, etc. each year! Look for an email sent by Robin Welch.
- Help promote these events by talking to people you know and passing along our fliers.
Please reply directly to Jenni VonLehman with questions and suggestions.
